We cannot compare our issues with
the Wynn issues they have monies that should be returned to them, Which is a
difficult task but not impossible, so stop waiting to see on that because it
will take a lot longer to resolve. Meanwhile MGM/Mirage is bent on
convincing the dealers "we will never do that" that's just other strategies
used for the believers.

So how is the Wynn toke
sharing policy going to affect us at Mandalay Bay? Badly I'm afraid. As many
of you know, the Wynn dealers have challenged this policy by taking it the labor commission. If they fail - which is
quite possible due to the fact that Steve Wynn has very deep pockets and a
lot of backing from other casino moguls - then they can challenge the
legality of this issue to the Nevada Supreme Court. It can't go any higher
since this is a state matter. But if again they fail, then that's it. Within
days of this decision every major casino in this state that has not
unionized by that time will implement this policy. And why wouldn't they?
This could save them millions. They could actually cut floor pay by $50.00
per day and still give them a 20% raise by shaving 15% off our daily toke
pool. Genius!
So is there any way we can positively stop toke sharing from occurring at
MB? Yes, to unionize before the court ruling comes down. Whatever the
"status quo" is at the time the union is voted in, it stays the same and
can't change from that point unless it's voted on by the dealers.
So print, fill out, and send in your union authorization cards as soon as
possible. We need at least 300 cards to request a vote to be scheduled. And
remember these cards are confidential and will stay confidential. Only the
TWU has access to them.
Anyway congratulations Caesars dealers! You're the first casino to protect
yourselves from toke sharing but look out because we're right behind you.
Outside of sharing their
earnings with supervisors, Wynn dealers are not even allowed into the room when
tokes are counted! How comfortable would you feel if it was not your
fellow dealers collecting and counting the tips? Steve Wynn has been a
pioneer in the business in many aspects. He was the first one to put tips
on paychecks, and everybody else followed. He implemented this policy, and
Harrah's has since issued these
conflicting statements. We cannot trust them in this matter.
These are our livelihoods at stake.
YOU
CAN DO SOMETHING TO STOP THIS! Step forward.
MandalayBay and its management will twist the truth around in their
attempt to instill fear and confusion in us, this is what they do
best in order to stop us from uniting. Within one month of
when the
Wynn policy was instituted, a Mandalay Bay's Management in one of our
pre shift meetings said: "
At this time we have no intentions of taking your tokes as Steve
Wynn did."
Key Words: "At this Time We have no
intentions" Tokes belong to Dealers, not
MandalayBay! WE should be the ones determining what we do with
OUR
money,
because they're OUR tokes.
