Everybody in our community, in our Valley
has a stake in this Union succeeding. Local businesses and professionals need a more stable
population with more spending power. Our teachers need a stable, healthy
student population. Realtors need more first-time buyers as well as
those who are looking for an upgrade. Restaurants need more diners, and
everybody needs more security.
So you, as residents whose direct livelihood is
Las Vegas, would
not be eligible for this union election, and you understand that this
affects you and your community. If you want to help and know a dealer,
direct them to this site. Now they can do something
about their workplace issues, and you can hold them to it.
Many dealers confide in friends outside of the
workplace because we need outside opinions or sometimes just somebody who will
listen and keep our gripe to themselves. Every time you hear a complaint about
how things are not how they used to be, remind them that they can do something. As far as our current jobs go, this is one of the few things that
we can all do to help ourselves. It really is an easy task to complete an
authorization
card and mail it. It is also confidential.
There are situations where Unions are not necessary and others where it
is the only option. In this case, MandalayBay/MGM's success truly has gone the opposite direction of
its treatment of its employees. Much of our hard work has resulted
in increases to MGM's stock and executive compensation but nothing
for us.
Our responses to surveys, no matter how carefully worded, get us
nowhere. Our hard work may get us a better schedule, but at our
coworkers’ expense. Our benefits keep getting weaker at the same time
that our expenses keep increasing. Unionizing is the only card that we
have left to play.
