                       242 NO and 167 Yes

JULY 12TH IS THE DAY THE RIO DEALERS  VOTED THE OUT COME WAS A NO, BUT THAT IS TEMPORARY THERE WILL COME ANOTHER TIME AGAIN, BECAUSE THE TWU LOCAL 721 DEALERS UNION IS HERE TO STAY!!!  DON'T BELIEVE IN THOSE EMPTY PROMISES MANAGEMENT MAKE TO YOU!!!

 NLRB Issues Order to Show Cause to
Mandalay Bay Ordering Why a NEW Election should not be conducted
after a preliminary administrative investigation by the NLRB disclosed that at the election conducted on Friday the 13th, during the second voting session, the Board Agent assigned to conduct the election left the polling area unaccompanied by the parties observers to go to the bathroom.

A Message from Terry Lanni  4/23/08

I believe every Nevadan should express an opinion in the political process. However, I also strongly believe that we should each express an informed opinion.

I’m writing to you today to warn you that a group is currently in your neighborhoods seeking signatures on petitions for a deceptive ballot measure. These people are counting on you signing their petition before you learn the facts about how damaging it could be to our state and our industry.

The success of our state’s education system is a top priority for our company, the same as I’m sure it is for each of you. But the fact of the matter is gaming companies already pay taxes that make up 50% of Nevada’s budget. Much of this money goes toward paying for children’s educations.

Some time ago, the leadership of the teachers’ union decided to try and make the biggest tax grab in Nevada history. Their plan: Change our state Constitution and raise the gaming tax by 44%. In the eyes of the teachers’ union leadership, this money would be used to give huge raises to every one of their members, with no direct tie to performance evaluations or accountability measures.

Teachers’ union leaders would have us give them hundreds of millions of dollars in new taxes for teacher pay raises, but would have no limits on how raises are assigned, no teacher performance standards, and no accountability controls to prove these millions of new tax dollars actually improve our education system at all. This tax would pay for no new books for our students, no new equipment for our classrooms, no improvements for our campuses.

The teachers’ union wants the promise of higher pay with no promise that Nevada’s children would receive a better education.

While the teachers’ union proposal is full of uncertainties, one thing is certain; a 44% increase in the state gaming tax would have a terrible impact on our company.

Money that could build new developments to attract tourists to Las Vegas would be lost.

Money that could create jobs and opportunities for our family of employees would be lost.

Money that could provide the best possible health care to our employees and their families would be lost.

Let me be clear - We are not against improving education in Nevada. Far from it, but if we are going to provide more money for education, we all deserve to know that money is going to be spent wisely, that there will be accountability for every dollar spent, and that our children will actually benefit through a better education.

This teachers’ union tax grab gives us none of those assurances, and will have a devastating impact on our company and our state. None of us should support that; and none of us should sign this deceptive petition.

If you oppose this misleading tax grab amendment, the most important thing you can do is ask the hard questions and not sign their petition.

TIP EARNERS OF NEVADA


The Baldonado/Cesarz (Wynn Dealers) vs Wynn appeal will be heard in front of the Nevada Supreme Court on Monday April 7, 2008.  If you are a tip earner, this affects you!!!  We want the Nevada court system to enforce the law and stop billion dollar casino operators from taking our tips to pay their management and protect all of Nevada’s tip earners from having their tips confiscated now or in the future.  This is your livelihoods and futures on the line! 

PROTECT YOUR TIPS!
We will be peacefully demonstrating our opposition to tip confiscation in front of the Regional Justice Center building on the day of the hearing.  If you wish to participate, just show up between 9:30AM and 12:30PM.  THE MORE THE MERRIER!!!  There will be picket signs provided at the location.

whom is employed by a Native American Casino which is named Fort McDowell in Arizona.

Our management team last year figured if Steve Wynn was good enough to implement a tip sharing policy so are we!! So our supervisors and upper management think they are allowed 12% of our tips per day no cap. On top of that the supervisors also have their own tip box in the pit! So at the end of our working shift we cash out our tips and then 12% is deducted out for what they call a "tip pool" However, doesn't tip pool mean all the dealers pool their tips together? LOL think again.......management says well we are taking your money and pooling it together to then be divided up by the floors and management. So even though I could make 400 a day and another dealer makes 200 a day, I get penalized because I made more!!! In other words I'm giving my floor $48 a day and the other individual 24 a day. Whatever, it is just a joke.

Our working conditions are deteriorating by the minute and we are constantly threatened with all aspects of our job.

Guys/Gals this is not going to get any better and we need to put an end to this. Many of us would like to get started on a union vote and I don't think it is going to be very far down the line.

I hope the Foxwoods dealers also get their way :)

MGM/Mirage gives their Dealers a "raise" ONE YEAR in advance of the scheduled FEDERALLY MANDATED minimum wage hike!

That's right! While some Dealers received a raise of nearly 22%, $1.42 per hour (the newest Dealers of the company), many received a whopping $.08 raise (those with the most years with the company. Loyalty counts!).

All Nevada employers are scheduled to boost the minimum wage to $7.03 per hour on July 24, 2008 and then to $7.73 per hour on July 24, 2009.

The MGM/Mirage Corporation is a true "leader", kind of...
