So what exactly is "Status Quo"?
The Webster's Dictionary defines
"Status Quo" as "the condition or state in which a person or thing
is,
or has been." So in essence, we are presently in a state of "Status
Quo" but this present state can be altered or changed by management
at
any time. What does this mean? Simply put, management can change
any
policy, procedure, or any other aspect of our working conditions at
any time they wish for any reason (or for NO reason).
However, when the majority of employees (let's say Mandalay Bay
Dealers), decides to, and then votes in a union, the present
"Status
Quo" is then frozen, or locked in. This means that all that was,
before the vote, IS after the vote and will stay that way. No one
on
either side can change any of our working conditions unless and
until
we dealers collectively agree to these changes.
So even if we dealers are reasonably satisfied with most of our
benefits as they are right now, doesn't it make sense to freeze
these
benefits by "locking in our present Status Quo"? And remember,
locking
in our "Status Quo" now, protects our tokes from redistribution in
the
future. (Yes I know, we're all hoping upper management wouldn't do
that, once it becomes legal, but let's not gamble with our income.)
So if your worried about our declining 401-k matches, health
benefits
with increased premiums, job security and toke security, then let's
lock in our present "Status Quo" now while we negotiate a better
future for all of us. Send in your CONFIDENTIAL AUTHORIZATION CARD
now, so we can get the ball rolling to join the "Las Vegas Dealers
Local 721"
NOW IS THE TIME TO TAKE CONTROL OF OUR FUTURE!!!
